The digital platform MediMatcher, designed for the health and social care sector, connects professionals with employers. MediMatcher Oy has recently joined the CleverHealth Network ecosystem. In our interview, MediMatcher’s founder and CEO Vivika Juntunen discusses the company and its novel solution that helps streamline recruitment in the social and healthcare sector.
MediMatcher is a Finnish digital platform that brings transparency to recruitment in health and social care by bringing employers and professionals into the same application. According to founder and CEO Vivika Juntunen, MediMatcher is transforming the labour market in the health and care sector. This enables skills, work and meaningful career paths to align more effectively, improving workforce availability forecasting and supporting smoother daily operations.
The development of MediMatcher is guided by a Vision Board composed of leading Finnish experts in health and social care. It brings together perspectives from the sector, research and leadership to ensure the functionality, economic sustainability and overall impact of the solution for both employers and professionals, strengthening the resilience and mobility of the workforce in the field.
Launched in 2022, the MediMatcher platform enables direct and personal interaction between professionals and organisations as part of their career journey. It acts as a transparent tool for proactive recruitment, as professionals seeking work can discuss their career ambitions and expertise directly with employers. At the same time, the platform provides a real-time view of how job preferences evolve, as well as training and career opportunities across organisations and countries. The platform already includes more than 11,000 Finnish professionals, most of whom are practical nurses, registered nurses and doctors.
Through MediMatcher, both employers and employees can agree on work well in advance, which brings flexibility for both sides. The platform provides visibility into various career paths and training opportunities (for example, internal training or language courses), and enables comparisons between career options, locations and job roles. Employers gain an up-to-date view of the skills landscape and interest levels in different positions. MediMatcher extends beyond Finland, as it already supports cross-border career mobility between the Nordic countries and the Netherlands, with expansion moving towards responsible and scalable mobility from outside Europe.
Vivika Juntunen says she received a recommendation to join the CHN ecosystem from an experienced IT development specialist at HUS. Collaboration with the CHN expert network will take MediMatcher towards AI-driven development in a large organisational environment. The goal is to begin development work at HUS with a focus on the career paths of healthcare professionals and on strengthening engagement and wellbeing at work. The development is based on close cooperation with the organisation and its professionals. MediMatcher will offer HUS insights into which roles and career paths interest professionals and why.
Finally, Vivika Juntunen shares her vision: “In the future, MediMatcher will be known as the most trusted digital platform connecting stakeholders in the health and care sector. It will be widely used across the EU, supporting safe recruitment processes, smoother mobility for jobseekers and a positive employer image across the entire sector.”
