Medixine, a company developing remote monitoring solutions, has joined the CleverHealth Network ecosystem

The latest member of the CHN ecosystem is Medixine, based in Espoo, which offers a comprehensive telemedicine platform for remote monitoring and patient communication. We spoke to Tapio Jokinen, Chairman of Medixine’s Board of Directors, about the company’s core areas of expertise and his expectations regarding future collaboration. 

Tapio Jokinen, who trained as a doctor, has been involved in various companies developing medical technologies and currently serves as Chairman of the Board at Medixine. Tapio Jokinen explains that Medixine employs around 15 people. The company also has staff in the USA and the UK. Founded in 1995, Medixine initially developed project-based healthcare solutions, and the company currently focuses on remote patient monitoring products. The company’s use-case-independent solution integrates the monitoring devices required for remote care onto a single platform, from which healthcare professionals can monitor various conditions or health status and obtain up-to-date information on, for example, patients requiring urgent care. 

Medix’s systems are in production use in the USA and in several dozen hospitals in countries including Spain and Portugal, and are currently being trialled in Finland and Denmark. Customers include Linde Healthcare, Tunstall, Nonin and Roche Diagnostics, amongst others. 

Tapio Jokinen explains that Medixine has been seeking a clinical partner to identify use cases that align with the company’s horizontal approach. Medixine was interested in joining the CHN ecosystem led by HUS Helsinki University Hospital, as, as a CHN member, the company has the opportunity to access concept content and processes defined by clinical operators to support needs-driven product development. Medixine has also recently completed its research project, supported by Business Finland, focusing on the use of artificial intelligence, for which the HUS data repository could provide patient record-level data to pilot the developed system. This would enable the development of more personalised remote monitoring models. Discussions with HUS regarding these collaboration arrangements have already begun. 

Tapio Jokinen hopes that collaboration with CHN’s member companies will lead to effective, jointly developed solutions that can be commercialised, even in foreign markets.  CHN seeks to bring together complementary expertise and joint projects. He emphasises: “Once a group of partners gets to know each other well, it is important to identify each other’s areas of expertise and combine our efforts to achieve the best possible outcome.” 

“Medixine brings to the CHN ecosystem a stable and scalable system for remote monitoring and the collection of patient data in a secure environment. We have strong expertise in remote monitoring systems and various use cases, and we hope to gain insights from clinicians regarding their specific needs,” says Tapio Jokinen. He outlines his vision for the ecosystem collaboration as follows: “It would be fantastic if, through our collaboration, we could create a good model for utilising HUS’sand could commercialise the promising use cases developed through corporate collaboration for the international market.”
