The software company Peili Vision has joined the CleverHealth Network ecosystem to promote impactful collaboration in identifying and supporting children with neurodivergent challenges. The company has developed a computer-based, gamified test designed to accelerate access for 8 to 13-year-old children to timely support and care.

Peili Vision’s CEO and founder Mikko Kontio has a background of Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from University of Oulu. The company’s sales are managed by an experienced sales expert Kimmo Sainio, who says that sales work in healthcare is rewarding but often slow. The company employs currently four people in Finland and one in the United Kingdom.

Peili Vision is known for the EFSim solution, a clinically validated digital ADHD assessment tool and the world’s first digital ADHD test classified as MDR Class IIA. The game-based test produces objective data on a child’s daily behaviour and concentration to support decision-making in schools and healthcare. EFSim supports in diagnosis and helps guide the child to the right care pathway as early as possible.

The solution is already widely used in schools and, for example, in Jyväskylä, all school nurses  and school psychologists have access to the EFSim test. The test can be used to enhance school support measures, speed up ADHD diagnoses or identify the need for broader assessments. The goal is to reduce delays caused by lengthy and slow care pathways. The solution is also used at HUS Children’s neurology and psychiatry units.

EFSim is CE marked and has been approved as a medical device in several markets. The company’s main focus is currently on the United Kingdom, where the solution has been adopted in school health services. In the UK sales and implementation are progressing faster than in Finland, as the decision-maker in schools is usually the deputy headteacher, while in Finland, more complex structures and procurement models slow down progress. In the UK, the EFSim solution is being implemented also in public health care, and it is being piloted in West Yorkshire by several entities of NHS Trust. In addition, EFSim is used by some private health care units.

Collaboration in CleverHealth Network

Through the CleverHealth Network, Peili Vision aims to demonstrate the impact of the EFSim solution more broadly across the entire care pathway. The network provides expertise particularly in impact measurement and care pathway modelling, for which there is a clear need.

Peili Vision brings to the CHN collaboration its experience in agile operation in a regulated field and a strong understanding of schools and care paths. The company’s solution has, at some stage of its lifecycle, been in use already in about 180 schools. The aim of the collaboration is to identify how ADHD information can be utilised more effectively across different services, achieve cost savings and provide children with support more quickly.

In the future, the EFSim paradigm could also be applied to screening for other conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease. The long-term goal is to build a seamless and digital care pathway, where the flow of information between schools and healthcare supports neurodiversity-aware and child-centred care.
