Clever Health Network brought together top-notch clinical, healthcare and technology experts from Helsinki University hospital, well-being counties and ecosystem partner companies for an intensive Project Idea Workshop on Monday, 8 June 2026, in Espoo. The event offered a collaborative forum for exploring new joint development opportunities and advancing identified promising ideas towards future projects.
The workshop was opened with welcoming remarks from CHN ecosystem leader Virpi Rauta of HUS, followed by an introduction from the moderator Markku Heino of Spinverse on how to build impactful joint projects within CHN context. In the first part of the programme, participants heard brief presentations of five new pre-selected project ideas which were further processed together through facilitated group discussions.
The topics and idea owners included:
- Continuous monitoring in everyday environments to support the health and care of children and young people
Salla Keränen, HUS, Sampsa Vanhatalo, University of Helsinki & Otto Olavinen, Aalto University (facilitator: Mikko Kytö) - IMTech-H (Integrating Modern Technologies in Hospitals)
Mikko Lehti, HUS (facilitator: Anja Kajanne) - Symptom Map AI (SMAI) – an AI-aided tool for diagnosing peripheral nervous system diseases
Raimo Ramstad & Erika Haaksiluoto, HUS (facilitator: Virpi Rauta) - Functional connectomics in neurological diseases
Aki Laakso, Satu Palva, Nina Forss, HUS; Lauri Parkkonen, Aalto University (facilitator: Riikka Paasikivi) - Better Insight – mapping the flow of information
Henrikka Aito HUS (facilitator: Tiina Puurtinen)
The event was designed as an interactive working session, encouraging participants to share their views, discuss, and build ideas in rotating small-group discussions, where each idea was examined from several perspectives.
The discussions focused first on further scoping the project objectives and validating the expected impact of each idea by assessing its relevance, scalability, and potential measurable outcomes.
A key part of the workshop was identifying the main R&D tasks needed to move each idea forward. The groups also discussed what kinds of competences, partners, and roles would be required, and how the work could be structured. For the ecosystem partner companies, the workshop offered an early phase opportunity to interact with the healthcare experts to shape the projects and to consider which ideas were most relevant to them, what they could contribute, and what kind of outcomes they would hope to achieve through future collaboration.
The day concluded with a wrap-up session summarizing the main findings from the group discussions and outlining possible next steps. Networking continued after the formal programme, giving participants the opportunity to deepen conversations and identify further collaboration opportunities.
