Experts in digital healthcare from across Europe gathered in Berlin on 8-10 April 2025 for Europe´s Leading Digital Health Conference and Trade Fair, DMEA. Development managers from HUS Helsinki University Hospital, Mikko Kytö and Pekka Kahri, attended the event and presented the achievements of the CleverHealth Network to a wide international audience.
This year’s DMEA attracted a wide array of digital healthcare specialists and enthusiasts, with a total of 20,500 attendees, 900 exhibitors from approximately 30 countries and 470 speakers delivering presentations across 200 sessions.
Germany’s Federal Minister of Health, Professor Karl Lauterbach, highlighted the importance of digitalization in his keynote speech: “DMEA is a central component of the digital health revolution. It connects the players who are bringing digitalization to healthcare – where it has an effect. Projects such as electronic patient files, e-prescriptions, or telemedicine show: digitalization is not an end in itself, but the key to better health care, more efficient processes, and more patient safety.”
HUS Development Manager Pekka Kahri had the opportunity to meet Minister Karl Lauterbach and participated in a panel discussion on the final day of the event. The panel, titled “International Innovation Highlights: Market Trends, Success Stories and Best Practices”, explored global advancements in digital healthcare.
Meanwhile, HUS Development Manager Mikko Kytö showcased the CleverHealth Network (CHN) ecosystem and presented the results of the eMOM GDM project, which focuses on remote monitoring for gestational diabetes. This was featured on one of the main stages during a session titled “Move the Data, Not the People”. The operational model of the CHN ecosystem attracted significant interest, and the eMOM GDM project gained visibility and valuable international contacts.
“What makes the eMOM solution unique is its proven efficacy in an RCT (randomized controlled trial) as a self-care application for gestational diabetes, without the need for healthcare professionals’ guidance. This significantly saves resources and helps steer mothers towards healthier lifestyle choices,” Mikko explained.
Business Finland, in collaboration with Messuille Oy, organized a joint Nordic pavilion representing Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Nordic cooperation was further promoted during an evening event at the shared Nordic embassy, where a panel discussion focused on the future of the European Health Data Space (EHDS).
Beyond offering market insights, DMEA provided Finnish participants with opportunities to showcase their products and services while expanding their networks within Germany and Europe. Finland already enjoys a strong presence and visibility at DMEA, which was further strengthened by the collective Nordic representation.
